Disposable sheets can be immersed in boiling water for a couple of seconds before use. This sterilising method is also suitable for plastic moulds, traditional cheesecloths and matting too.

We stock two different sizes. 27″ x 27″ and  29″ x  29″ sheets. Sold in various quantities to suit home and small scale cheese makers.

Moorlands is working hard to find a more sustainable alternative to disposable cheesecloth.

Traditionally, cheesecloth has been used in cheesemaking to separate the curds and whey, helping to form the cheese. Cheesecloth and muslin bags are great for straining stocks, homemade jelly, smoothies, custards, making tofu and cottage cheese. Paneer, an Indian fresh cheese, is commonly made using cheesecloth.

Christmas fruitcake, wrapped in a brandy infused cheesecloth as it ripens, is probable the best use for cheesecloth.

    Easy to use and ideal for lining the moulds. Why bother with the washing at 35p per cloth!!

    Bought these because the idea of them being disposable appealed to me. However, having tried them I think I’ll stick with the proper cheesecloths. I found the disposable material difficult to flatten out properly when in the collander and in the moulds (too ‘springy’).

    Used by a professional Cheesemaker I know so thought I’d try them at home – worked great! And no washing as well. Cheese turned out very easily and no strands of cotton left behind. Will buy again!
