Expert advice when you need it

And better still, once you receive your cheese-making kit, we will always be on hand to answer any questions or guide you in any way if you get confused.

So, if your cheese making isn’t going the way you want it to, we’ll always be on the other end of the phone or email. We also have a range of FAQs on our website that might already answer your question.

Our History

The business began in Appin in the Highlands of Scotland, where my mother-in-law Mary Gregory used milk from a few goats to make cheese.

She enjoyed the process, and it meant there was always enough calcium for her young family. Soon neighbouring crofter wives wanted to learn too.  So Mary sent them cheese-making supplies. Word spread, and this soon turned into a popular mail-order business for her.

Soon afterwards, she set up the website Moorlands Cheesemakers.

Kathrin has been running the business for more than 25 years now. She started off in Somerset and since then has moved several times with the family. They’re now settled in the wilds of North Norfolk – and have been for the past four years.

They’re proud to say Moorlands is still family-run from our home setting. Like you, they care about food and its origins.

They’ve lots more supplies and stock to offer artisan cheese makers these days. They’re also happy to provide technical support to anyone who perhaps finds themselves a bit ‘stuck.’
